When Topher woke up and reached for her, Sass was nowhere to be found, which was business as usual, really. He opened one eye cautiously, nowhere near ready for the blinding digital numbers on their alarm clock before realizing it was about time he found her. Days in France were for the most part lazy, with lives as fast paced as theirs, they were usually in need of the extra sleep, but Sass was usually up and exploring before he was. He sort of wondered if that was just yet another sign that she really loved it there and that he should take some sort of step to make sure that at least the country became a more permanent fixture.
He snatched a very wrinkled tee shirt off the floor and pulled it over his head, allowing himself a quick look in the mirror (shaggy and in need of a shave, another par for the course, Francewise) before heading into the living room, a bit surprised that he had found Sass on his first try.
"Morning," he mumbled, his brain still a little fuzzy and his mouth not really working yet. "Where did you wander off to?" He gave her a quick kiss before plopping down on the couch next to her. The newspaper on the table (that always seemed to be delivered even though they had never asked or paid for it) told him it was Sunday, and a lightbulb went off in his head. They had plans. Or at least he had a plan that he hoped she would go along with on such short notice. Why hadn't he mentioned it earlier like he had been meaning to?
Then fuzzy memories of the past few days (usually involving really good food or very little clothing) came back to him and he had his answer. "Hey, what do you wanna do today?" he asked, getting up from the couch to search for the flyer that had given him the idea in the first place.
